Effective date: 01 September 2025
This Privacy Policy explains how Space Savvy Life (“we,” “us,” “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information when you visit spacesavvylife.com (the “Site”), subscribe to our emails, interact with our social channels, or otherwise use our services (the “Services”). We designed this notice to satisfy key requirements of the GDPR and UK GDPR, the ePrivacy rules on cookies, and major US state privacy laws such as the CCPA/CPRA (California), VCDPA (Virginia), CPA (Colorado), CTDPA (Connecticut), and UCPA (Utah). It also reflects Google’s policies, including the EU User Consent Policy and disclosures related to Google Analytics, Google Ads/AdSense, and reCAPTCHA. If you have questions, contact privacy@spacesavvylife.com.
1. Who We Are (Controller)
Space Savvy Life is a content publisher focused on small-space living. We act as the data controller for processing described in this Policy for residents of the EEA and the UK. You can reach us at privacy@spacesavvylife.com or by mail at Space Savvy Life, New York, NY, USA (correspondence only).
2. Information We Collect
We collect information that you provide directly to us, information collected automatically through your use of the Services, and information from third parties. When you send us a message, join our newsletter, or submit user-generated content such as comments, reviews, photos, or floor plans, we receive details like your name, email address, and the contents of your communication. When you visit the Site, we record device and usage data such as your IP address, approximate location derived from the IP, device identifiers, browser and operating system details, pages viewed, referring and exit pages, timestamps, and clickstream paths. We use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to operate the Site, remember preferences, perform analytics, and, if enabled, support advertising. We may also receive aggregated insights from partners such as Google Analytics or ad networks and information from social or embed providers when you interact with their widgets. We do not intentionally collect sensitive categories of data such as precise geolocation, health, financial, or government identifiers.
3. How We Use Information
We use personal information to operate and improve the Services, to communicate with you, to personalize non-sensitive aspects of your experience, to support advertising and monetization where permitted, to protect the Services from abuse and fraud, and to meet legal obligations. Examples include sending newsletters you request, responding to inquiries, measuring readership and content performance, enforcing our terms, debugging issues, and using security services such as reCAPTCHA to block automated abuse.
4. Legal Bases Under the GDPR/UK GDPR
Where European data-protection law applies, we rely on your consent for non-essential cookies and similar technologies, for personalized advertising in the EEA/UK, and for marketing emails. We rely on our legitimate interests to run a secure and reliable website, to perform basic analytics where permitted, to prevent fraud, and to understand aggregate content performance. When you request content or a newsletter, we process your information as necessary to perform a contract with you. We also process information to comply with legal obligations. You may withdraw consent at any time through our cookie banner and preferences or by using the unsubscribe link in our emails.
5. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We place strictly necessary cookies that allow the Site to function, store your consent choices, and protect forms with security tools. We use analytics technologies, including Google Analytics 4, to understand how the Site is used; IP addresses are truncated and we do not create user-level profiles outside of Google Analytics. If advertising is enabled, ad partners may set cookies or identifiers to deliver contextual or, where you consent, personalized ads and to measure their performance. You control these technologies through our cookie banner and the “Cookie Settings” link in the footer, through your browser settings, and through industry tools such as Google Ads Settings, the EDAA’s YourOnlineChoices (EU), and the DAA/NAI (US). Blocking cookies may affect how the Site functions.
6. Google Services Disclosures
We use several Google services that may process personal data as processors or independent controllers. With Google Analytics 4, we collect aggregated metrics to improve content and site performance; we enable IP anonymization and configure data retention in line with this Policy, and you can opt out via our cookie preferences or Google’s opt-out tools. If we use Google Ads or AdSense, Google may process data to serve personalized ads only where you have consented in the EEA/UK. If you decline consent, you will receive non-personalized ads based on context. In California, if you opt out of “sale” or “sharing,” we enable Restricted Data Processing for eligible Google ad products. We also use reCAPTCHA to protect forms; its collection and use of information are governed by Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms. When we embed YouTube videos or Google Maps, those services may collect data when you interact with them. We implement Consent Mode and, where applicable, an IAB TCF-compatible consent management platform so that Google tags respect your choices.
7. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information with service providers that host our Site, deliver emails, provide analytics, measure ads, supply consent tools, and protect security. These providers act under contracts that restrict their use of personal information and require appropriate safeguards. We may also share information with advertising partners where a lawful basis exists, with authorities where required by law, and with parties involved in a corporate transaction such as a merger or asset sale.
8. International Data Transfers
Your information may be processed in the United States and other countries with different data-protection laws from those in your jurisdiction. For transfers from the EEA/UK, we use appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses together with supplementary measures when needed.
9. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your information; to restrict or object to certain processing; and to withdraw consent. Residents of US states with comprehensive privacy laws may also have rights to know what data is collected, to opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising, and to limit use of sensitive information. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. Instructions for exercising these rights appear in Section 15.
10. Retention
We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy or as required by law. Messages and support correspondence are usually retained for up to three years after our last interaction. Newsletter subscription records and consent logs are typically retained for five years or longer if law requires. Google Analytics event data is retained between fourteen and twenty-six months depending on our account settings. User-generated content remains available while published or until you ask us to remove it. We may retain limited information to comply with legal, accounting, and security obligations.
11. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures such as HTTPS, access controls, least-privilege practices, and encryption in transit to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and you should use unique, strong passwords and be cautious with links and attachments.
12. Children’s Privacy
Our Site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13 in the United States or to children under the age of digital consent in their country. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so that we can delete it.
13. Third-Party Links
The Site contains links to other websites and embeds from third-party providers. Their collection and use of information are governed by their own privacy policies. Review those policies before you interact with those services.
14. California Notice at Collection
At or before the point of collection, we inform California residents about the categories of information we collect, the purposes for which we use it, and how long we retain it. We collect identifiers such as email addresses and IP addresses, internet activity information related to your use of the Site, coarse location derived from IP, limited inferences about content interests, and user-generated content that you choose to submit. We use this information to provide and secure the Services, to communicate with you, to perform analytics, and, where enabled, to support advertising and measurement. We do not intentionally collect sensitive information; if we incidentally receive such information we minimize and delete it as appropriate. We do not sell personal information for money. Certain analytics and advertising practices may be considered “sharing” under the CPRA; you can opt out using our “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link or by contacting us as described below.
15. Your Choices and How to Exercise Rights
You can unsubscribe from emails using the link included in any newsletter or by writing to unsubscribe@spacesavvylife.com. You can manage cookies through the banner presented on your first visit and through the Cookie Settings link in our footer. You can further control advertising choices through Google Ads Settings and industry opt-out tools offered by the DAA/NAI in the US and the EDAA in Europe. To request access, deletion, correction, portability, or to opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising, email privacy@spacesavvylife.com with your name, jurisdiction, and the nature of your request. We may ask for information to verify your identity and will respond within the timeframes required by law. If you are a California resident, you may use an authorized agent to submit a request if they present proof of authorization. Where technically feasible, we honor Global Privacy Control signals as an opt out of sale or sharing for the browser that sends the signal. If you disagree with our response, you may appeal by replying to our decision email with “Appeal” in the subject line.
16. Automated Decision-Making
We do not use automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects about you.
17. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy to reflect changes to our Services, legal requirements, or Google platform policies. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, when appropriate, provide a prominent notice such as a banner or email.
18. Contact Us
For privacy questions, requests, or complaints, write to privacy@spacesavvylife.com. For general inquiries, use hello@spacesavvylife.com. You may also write to Space Savvy Life, New York, NY, USA (correspondence only). EEA and UK residents may contact or lodge a complaint with their local data protection authority.
Plain-Language Summary
